Mahindra has introduced the Sporteq, a new performance-oriented and tech-rich version of its BE 6 electric compact SUV, along with updates to its design and digital features, aiming to keep the model competitive in the evolving EV market.
Mahindra has expanded the BE 6 line-up with the Sporteq, a revised version of its electric compact SUV that adds a more elaborate cabin, extra software features and a performance-led special edition. The update arrives alongside the Lifestyler pickup and is aimed at keeping the BE 6 fresh rather than replacing it outright. Deliveries are due to begin on 26 August 2026.
The most obvious changes are inside the cabin. From the “two” variant upwards, the Sporteq gains a wider three-screen dashboard layout, including a separate display for the front passenger. Mahindra has also reshaped the centre console and changed the interior finish, while higher-spec versions receive additional equipment. The company says the new software package covers entertainment, personalisation, driving functions and security, and includes “TEQ Talk”, an AI voice assistant developed with Google Gemini that can respond to natural-language commands for navigation, music and vehicle controls.
Mahindra has also added features that move the BE 6 further into the software-defined car category. The Sporteq gets in-car gaming, karaoke, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, plus a digital key that works with compatible iPhones, Apple Watches and Android devices, as well as NFC key cards. A Formula E-inspired Freedom Edition joins the range too, with a more aggressive exterior, tricolour detailing, the original BE 6 headlamp design and a black-and-orange cabin. It also adds an “Acceleration Boost” mode that cuts the 0-100kph sprint to 6.44 seconds.
Under the skin, the Sporteq continues with the BE 6’s existing battery choices of 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh, while published BE 6 data shows the model already offers rapid DC charging, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, seven airbags and Level 2 driver assistance features. Pricing for the Sporteq starts at Rs 19.45 lakh for the entry “one” variant with the battery included, or Rs 11.45 lakh under battery-as-a-service, where usage is billed separately. At the top of the range, the “four” and Launch Edition are priced at Rs 26.95 lakh, while the Freedom Edition starts at Rs 24.45 lakh; all figures are ex-showroom and exclude the wall charger and installation. Mahindra says some of the new software features will also be pushed to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through over-the-air updates from January 2027, depending on model and variant.
