Motorola launches the Moto Pad 70 in India, featuring a 12.1-inch 2.5K display, 5G connectivity, AI-enabled Moto Pen, and extensive software support, targeting students and creators in the mid-range segment.
Motorola’s Moto Pad 70 is entering India’s mid-range tablet market with an emphasis on portability and bundled accessories. The device is priced at ₹36,999 and combines a 12.1-inch 2.5K display, 5G support and a 10,200mAh battery. According to Unbox Daily HQ, Motorola is also packaging an AI-enabled Moto Pen with the tablet, which gives it a stronger out-of-box appeal for note-taking and drawing than many rivals.
There is some disagreement over the commercial timeline. LiveMint reported that the Moto Pad 70 is set to launch in India on August 8, 2026, while Unbox Daily HQ said retail sales would begin on August 15, 2026. Both reports place the tablet at the same price point and indicate it will be sold through Motorola’s own channels as well as Flipkart and other retail outlets.
The hardware package is built around a slim body that measures 6.29mm thick and weighs 530g. Gizmochina and Notebookcheck both said the tablet uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chip and supports 5G connectivity. LiveMint added that it includes a quad-speaker setup, while Notebookcheck said the larger Moto Pad 70 Groove variant is associated with a nine-speaker JBL audio system, underscoring that Motorola appears to be positioning the range with a strong audio focus as well as a display-led one.
Motorola has also tried to reduce the need for extra purchases. Unbox Daily HQ said the box includes a 68W TurboPower charger and cable, while the tablet itself supports a dedicated microSD slot for storage expansion up to 2TB. The Moto Pen is reported to support 4,096 pressure levels, tilt detection and palm rejection, features that matter for handwriting and sketching. An optional Moto Folio keyboard can attach through magnetic pogo pins, making the device more suitable for work than a basic entertainment tablet.
Software support is another notable part of the pitch. GizNewsDaily said the Moto Pad 70 runs Android 16 and is promised two major operating system upgrades, with security updates through 2030. That longer support window, combined with the 10,200mAh battery and 68W charging, suggests Motorola is aiming at students, professionals and creators who want a single device for reading, writing, media and light productivity rather than a tablet used only for streaming.
