Samsung is preparing a broader foldable portfolio for 2027, according to reports from the South Korean tech media and leak trackers. The clearest sign of that shift is the apparent expansion beyond the usual clamshell-and-book formats into a wider set of designs, including a possible rollable device. The move suggests Samsung is trying to answer stronger demand for foldables while testing which shapes will define the next stage of the category. According to ET News, as relayed by Ice Universe, five foldables are now in development for that year.
Those models are said to include the Galaxy Z Flip 9, the Galaxy Z Fold 9, a Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, a Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and an as-yet-unidentified handset that may turn out to be rollable. SamMobile reported leaked codenames linked to those devices, while Gizchina said the mystery model could point to Samsung’s interest in a new form factor rather than another conventional foldable.
A separate report from 9to5Google said Samsung’s wider 2027 flagship plan could extend well beyond foldables, with eight premium phones in total when the Galaxy S27 family is included. OLED-Info likewise described a “four-plus-four” strategy, combining four Galaxy S models with four foldables. Taken together, the reports indicate that Samsung is not merely refreshing its foldable line-up, but building a larger flagship ladder designed to cover more price points and usage preferences.
The emphasis on wider Fold-style devices is also notable. The leak cited by Zoomit indicates that Samsung sees a strong enough market response to the broader design language to justify at least two versions of it. If accurate, that would mark a significant change from the company’s earlier approach, which relied on a narrower range of foldable options and pushed experimentation more cautiously.
For now, these plans remain unannounced and should be treated as provisional. Even so, the pattern in the leaks is consistent: Samsung appears to be widening its foldable strategy, reviving the TriFold line and possibly adding a rollable phone to compete in a segment that is still searching for its long-term mainstream format.
