Samsung Electronics aims to redefine its gaming presence at Gamescom 2026 by showcasing integrated hardware and services that connect monitors, foldable phones, and cloud gaming, signalling a strategic shift towards unified play experiences.
Samsung Electronics will use Gamescom 2026 in Cologne to present a broader gaming pitch that links monitors, storage, smartphones and cloud services rather than treating each product category separately. The company said on 11 August that it will attend the event from August 26 to 30, when the trade fair is expected to host about 1,500 games and hardware firms after drawing 360,000 visitors last year.
Under the “#PlaySamsung” banner, Samsung plans to show the Odyssey G8 gaming monitor, its 9100 PRO solid-state drive and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, alongside other devices aimed at players. The 32-inch Odyssey G8, launched in May, supports dual mode operation that switches between 6K at 165Hz and 3K at 330Hz, while the booth will also feature Pearl Abyss’s open-world title “Crimson Desert” as a hands-on demo.
The company is also pushing foldables as serious gaming devices. Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z line includes the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip8, with the Ultra model pitched around productivity and content creation as well as premium imaging. Samsung Electronics is positioning the phones as part of the same gaming ecosystem as its monitors and TVs, reflecting a wider effort to connect play across different screens.
That strategy extends beyond hardware. Samsung said its mobile gaming hub had reached 160 million monthly active users as of January, signalling a growing role in game distribution and audience engagement. The company will also stage the PlayGalaxy Cup world finals on August 27 and 28, with 10 teams from five regions competing in “PUBG Mobile” on Galaxy smartphones. The event fits into Samsung’s wider effort to combine exhibition hardware, live competitions and cloud gaming in front of a global audience.
