Leaked details suggest Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 FE will combine flagship aesthetics with high-end features, but rising costs threaten its appeal in the budget segment, prompting questions over its value proposition.
Samsung’s next Fan Edition handset is taking shape through a steady stream of leaks, and the early picture suggests a phone that looks closer to the standard Galaxy S26 line than to a stripped-back bargain model. Reports point to a launch around September 1, with Samsung expected to keep the Fan Edition formula of flagship styling, but with a few compromises to hold down costs.
According to recent leaks picked up by Android Central and Android Authority, the Galaxy S26 FE may ship with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness levels that would put it firmly in premium territory. The same reports say Samsung is likely to fit the phone with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The device is also said to follow the Galaxy S26 family’s raised camera design and could arrive in Graphite, Aqua Green and a third colour somewhere between blue and purple.
Performance appears to centre on Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chip. SamMobile reported that a Samsung device believed to be the S26 FE appeared in Geekbench under model number SM-S741U, with a processor identifier linked to the Exynos 2500. If accurate, that would give the Fan Edition model a newer 3nm chip than the Exynos 2400 used in the Galaxy S25 FE, which could improve both speed and efficiency.
Camera and battery leaks suggest Samsung is not treating this as a minor refresh. The phone is tipped to include a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, an ultra-wide lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Front camera hardware is said to be 12 megapixels. The battery is listed at 4,900mAh, with 45W wired charging, while software may be Android 17 with One UI. Connectivity details reportedly include Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, dual Nano-SIM support and one or two eSIM profiles.
The most awkward part of the leak is pricing. Dealabs, as reported by Android Central and AndroidPure, says the French starting price could be €749 or €799 depending on the leak iteration, with higher tiers rising sharply for larger storage options. Either way, the message is the same: the S26 FE may cost much more than older Fan Edition phones while still keeping a 128GB base model. That would put it uncomfortably close to discounted full flagship Galaxy S26 devices in parts of Europe, weakening one of the FE range’s main selling points.
For Samsung, that creates a familiar problem. Fan Edition phones are supposed to offer a near-flagship experience at a lower price, but the margin for error is shrinking as component costs rise and base storage expectations change. If the leaked pricing proves accurate, the S26 FE will need stronger launch offers and a clearer value case to avoid being overshadowed by cheaper older flagships and discounted premium rivals. Samsung has not confirmed the device yet, so the specifications and prices should still be treated as provisional.
