Tata Electronics announces a series of alliances with international firms at Semicon India 2026, aiming to establish a comprehensive semiconductor supply chain and manufacturing hub in India, from materials to talent development.
Tata Electronics has widened its semiconductor partnerships with a fresh set of agreements announced on the sidelines of Semicon India 2026, signalling an effort to build a more complete manufacturing chain in India, from materials and wafer fabrication to packaging, design support and skills development.
According to the company and Nexperia, the two firms will work together across front-end wafer fabrication, back-end assembly and testing, and broader technology development. The partnership includes preparing to manufacture Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata Electronics’ planned 300mm fab in Dholera, Gujarat, while discrete semiconductor products would be assembled and tested at Tata’s packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam. Tata has been building out this Dholera project with partner PSMC of Taiwan, and says the plant is intended to be India’s first pure-play foundry.
Tata Electronics also signed an agreement with Fujifilm to strengthen the domestic semiconductor materials supply chain. Fujifilm said it plans to invest about ₹800 crore in phases to set up a materials plant in the Dholera Special Investment Region, supporting Tata’s upcoming fab, which the company says represents a total investment of ₹91,000 crore. The Dholera site is planned to produce chips on process nodes from 28nm to 110nm, a range suited to automotive, communications and other industrial uses.
In packaging, Tata Electronics has teamed up with Besi, the Dutch equipment supplier, to support advanced packaging operations in India. Tata is investing $3 billion in its Jagiroad facility, and the collaboration is intended to improve equipment readiness, technical support and the wider local ecosystem around semiconductor assembly tools. Tata has also previously announced collaborations with ASML, Synopsys, Intel and Qualcomm as it assembles a network of technology partners around its manufacturing plans.
Beyond manufacturing, Tata Electronics is also focusing on localisation and talent. In an agreement with the Semi-Conductor Laboratory, the government-run integrated device manufacturing facility under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the company will explore chip design services, technology-node enablement, supply-chain localisation and workforce skilling. A separate MoU with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will aim to create industry-ready graduates through curriculum work, joint certification and training in facility engineering, logistics, infrastructure systems and project management, with support from Tata partners L&T EduTech and Jacobs Solutions.
