Leaked images suggest Xiaomi’s upcoming Mix Fold 5 will feature a wider, easier-to-handle design, advanced hardware including a 200MP camera, and the latest HyperOS 4 tailored for foldables, with a potential launch in August 2026.
New leaked images appear to show Xiaomi’s next foldable, the Mix Fold 5, with a noticeably wider body, a redesigned inner panel and HyperOS 4 running on live hardware. Early reports from NokiaPowerUser say the device has also appeared in Chinese certification databases, suggesting the launch window is close.
The design looks set to address one of the biggest complaints about foldables: awkward one-handed use when closed. In the leaked setup screens, the cover display seems less tall and narrow than before, while the inner screen uses rounded corners and places the selfie camera in the upper-right corner. The main flexible panel is tipped to measure about 7.5 to 7.6in, with a hinge system intended to make the crease less visible. Gizmochina and GizChina both said the live images also point to a more compact, easier-to-handle shape than earlier Mix Fold models.
The hardware leak is equally aggressive. Multiple reports say Xiaomi is preparing an in-house Xring O3 processor for the device, rather than relying on a third-party chip. The main camera is widely tipped to be a 200-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation, while the battery could reach 6,000mAh, paired with wired and wireless charging. That combination would place the Mix Fold 5 among the more ambitious foldables in terms of both imaging and endurance, according to reports from Gizmochina, Antara and other outlets tracking the device.
HyperOS 4 is another important part of the story. The setup wizard images reportedly confirm the software is already running on the handset, with the operating system based on Android 17. According to GizChina, the internal codename visible in the images is “lhasa”, reinforcing the device’s identity. The software appears tailored for foldable use, with floating AI windows, horizontal widgets and improved cross-device continuity. Several reports point to an August 2026 launch, with one estimate putting Chinese pricing at around 10,000 yuan, or about $1,475.
