“Unidentified network” and “No Internet” in Windows are symptoms, not diagnoses. They can point to something as simple as a loose Ethernet lead, but they can also reflect a missing DHCP lease, a bad router port, incorrect IP or DNS settings, proxy or VPN interference, a faulty adapter driver, or an outage at the internet provider. The first step is to check whether other devices can connect on the same network. If they cannot, the problem is probably in the modem, router or ISP rather than the PC.
Where only one computer is affected, it helps to narrow the fault before making changes in Windows. If Ethernet fails but Wi‑Fi works, the cable, port and wired adapter deserve attention; if Wi‑Fi fails but Ethernet works, the wireless settings, signal and radio band are the likelier causes.
