The issue is most noticeable in everyday situations: charging in a warm car, using navigation for long periods, recording video in bright sun, or carrying the phone in a pocket on a hot day. Samsung says its devices are designed to tolerate temperature changes, and that built-in protection may slow charging or reduce performance when heat rises.
One of the simplest adjustments is to limit fast charging. On many Galaxy phones, the relevant controls sit under Battery and charging settings, where users can disable fast charging or super fast charging. That can make sense in hot weather, because charging at higher power creates more heat, and extra warmth makes it harder for the device to cool itself. Display and performance settings matter as well. Samsung recommends an optimised performance profile rather than pushing the handset at maximum output all the time. For many tasks, that balance is enough. A dark theme can also help on OLED screens, while a lower refresh rate reduces graphical load. SamMobile notes that brightness, motion smoothness and always-on display features are all meaningful battery drains, and lowering them can help a phone stay cooler in summer.
Camera use is one of the quickest ways to heat a phone. Recording 4K video, or shooting at high frame rates, places heavy demands on the processor and sensors. In hot conditions, Samsung devices may respond by warning the user or reducing brightness. A more practical choice for many holiday clips is Full HD at 30 frames per second. The physical environment matters too: keeping the handset out of direct sun, removing a case briefly during charging if it feels warm, and avoiding a dashboard or windowsill can all make a difference.
