Google appears to be expanding its repair toolkit for Pixel owners with a new ‘Connectivity health’ menu that offers targeted checks for mobile data, calls, and Wi-Fi, reflecting a broader push towards self-service troubleshooting and device resilience.
Google appears to be building a broader set of repair tools for Pixel owners, with a new “Connectivity health” menu that would pull together checks for mobile data, calls and Wi-Fi. The feature was found in a recent Pixel Troubleshooting app build and manually enabled by Android Authority, which says it is still unfinished but already points to a more guided approach to fixing network problems.
At present, Pixel devices already include a range of built-in diagnostics, including tools for Bluetooth and general handset health. Android Central has reported that Google recently added a hidden Bluetooth diagnostics option on Pixel phones, aimed in part at solving connection problems such as those affecting Android Auto. Another Android Central guide notes that Pixel diagnostics can surface issues including battery drain and connectivity faults, and can then suggest ways to improve performance.
The new Connectivity health section would sit under Network & internet in settings and would show whether the phone has detected a fault with Wi-Fi, mobile data or calls. Android Authority says Google has also split the feature into separate Mobile data diagnostics, Call diagnostics and Wi-Fi diagnostics pages, suggesting a more targeted troubleshooting flow rather than a single generic check.
Of the tools uncovered so far, mobile data diagnostics looks the most complete. Android Authority says it can test data connectivity and speed, recommend changes to improve cellular performance and then produce a report of the settings that were altered. In one example, it suggested changing Private DNS to “off” or “automatic” before marking the connection as “Normal” once the checks were finished. The call and Wi-Fi sections appear to be in earlier stages of development, with only their opening screens visible.
The direction is consistent with Google’s wider work on Pixel safety and self-service features. Android Central recently reported that Pixel Watch 4 adds standalone satellite SOS support, underscoring Google’s push to make its devices more resilient when normal networks are unavailable. For Pixel phone owners, a more capable connectivity checker could reduce the need for trial-and-error settings changes when mobile service, voice calls or wireless networking stop behaving as expected.
