Apple has added a range of certified refurbished MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPhone 16 Plus, and Apple Watch models to its US online store, offering alternatives as new stock remains scarce and prices climb, boosting options for buyers in the thriving secondary market.
Apple has added a fresh batch of certified refurbished devices to its US online store, including MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, along with the iPhone 16 Plus and Apple Watch variants. According to Thanh Nien, the timing has drawn interest because demand for Apple hardware remains strong, while some MacBook Air configurations are still hard to find through retail channels. Some new-order estimates for certain models stretch into late August or September.
The refurbished stock is a practical option for buyers facing higher component costs and recent Apple price rises. Thanh Nien reported that Apple lifted MacBook Air pricing in June, increasing the outlay for students preparing for the new academic year and lengthening delivery times at the same time. Even so, refurbished inventory is limited: the cheapest refurbished MacBook Air M5, a 13-inch model with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, sold out quickly. The current entry point is the 15-inch version with the same memory and storage, priced at $1,269, down from $1,499.
MacRumors reported earlier in the year that Apple began selling refurbished iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro handsets in the US with discounts of roughly 12% to 22%, and that the devices ship with a new battery and outer shell, plus Apple’s one-year limited warranty. The same outlet said Apple also expanded its refurbished Mac range in April with the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip. The latest listings now extend that approach to more laptop, phone and watch configurations. Thanh Nien said refurbished MacBook Pro prices start at $1,359 for a 13-inch model, while a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip is listed at $1,699. The highest-priced MacBook Pro in the current refurbished selection is $2,419.
For iPhone buyers, the refurbished iPhone 16 Plus is available in unlocked 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions at $699, $789 and $959 respectively. Thanh Nien noted that the 512GB new model is no longer sold directly, which makes the refurbished channel one of the few ways to buy that capacity. Apple Watch prices in the refreshed store range from $279 to $639. The company says refurbished products are tested and inspected before sale, and they include a one-year warranty and a 14-day return window. MacRumors has also reported that Apple has repeatedly adjusted US trade-in values this year, while the company launched a leasing programme in July as part of a wider push to soften the effect of rising prices and storage costs.
