Adobe extends Firefly’s audio tools into mainstream workflows with new generative music and speech features

Adobe has made its Firefly AI-powered audio tools broadly available, enabling users to generate licensed music, narration, and sound effects within a unified creative environment, backed by research on AI and copyright concerns.

Adobe has widened Firefly’s audio push by making its Generate Music, Generate Speech and Generate Sound Effects tools generally available, moving them beyond an early-access phase and into everyday creative workflows. The company says the aim is to let users produce licensed music, narration and effects inside the same Firefly environment, rather than stitching together separate services for each stage of audio production.

The launch is backed by Adobe research carried out with Berklee College of Music. In that survey, all respondents said they use music in video work, while 32.7% said they already use AI-generated music. Adobe said 43.2% cited legal and copyright concerns as the main obstacle to using music, and 38.9% pointed to licensing costs, which helps explain why the company is emphasising commercially safe output.

According to Adobe, Generate Music can produce original tracks matched to a clip’s length and mood, and can analyse video content to suggest editable prompts before generating four variations. Users can also adjust tempo, energy and duration. Generate Speech can turn a script into voiceover, with support for Adobe’s own Firefly speech model or ElevenLabs, while Generate Sound Effects can build custom audio from text, a recorded voice reference or uploaded audio. Adobe says these tools are available on Firefly’s desktop and mobile web app, and that no separate subscription is required to generate the audio assets for commercial use.

Adobe is also expanding the model choices inside Firefly. The company said Gemini Omni Flash has been added, allowing prompts that combine video, audio and image inputs with text. That follows the recent addition of Runway Aleph 2.0 and Kling 2.0 to Firefly’s third-party model set, alongside models from Google, Kling AI, Luma AI, OpenAI, Runway and Adobe itself. Adobe’s wider Firefly product has increasingly been positioned as an all-in-one creative environment, with recent additions including Generate Soundtrack and more advanced video-editing features.
