iFi audio has launched the GO cable, a streamlined in-line lead featuring a built-in USB-C DAC and amplifier, offering a compact upgrade for mobile and desktop users seeking high-quality sound without additional accessories.
iFi audio has expanded its portable line-up with the GO cable, a USB-C DAC and amplifier built directly into an in-line lead for IEMs. The company says the idea is to preserve the benefits of its GO series in a simpler form factor, so listeners can improve sound quality without carrying a separate dongle. It is pitched as a plug-and-play upgrade for phones, tablets, laptops and handheld consoles, with direct 0.78mm two-pin analogue connections for compatible in-ear monitors.
The GO cable uses an ESS Sabre DAC and supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD256 playback. iFi says it also includes in-house processing aimed at improving dynamic range and lowering distortion, alongside its S-Balanced output design for reduced crosstalk. According to the company, the cable supports transport controls, an integrated microphone for calls and chat, and selectable digital filters through the iFi Nexis app on Android devices. Firmware updates can also be delivered over the air on Android.
The release follows a broader run of portable audio products from iFi, including the GO Link 2 and the GO Pod wireless adapter for wired IEMs. What the GO cable changes is the packaging: rather than a small external DAC, the conversion and amplification stages are embedded in the cable itself. That approach may appeal to users who want a more streamlined setup, particularly if they already own suitable IEMs and want to avoid Bluetooth compression, charging and extra accessories.
iFi is also selling a GO cable Starter Kit with its AIRO Astra IEMs, creating a bundled wired system for everyday listening. The kit combines a 6mm titanium-plated dynamic driver with the cable’s DAC and microphone functions, and iFi says it is intended for music, gaming, podcasts and video. The GO cable costs £79, €79, $79 or $119 in Canada, while the Starter Kit is priced at £99, €99, $99 or $149 in Canada.
