Xiaomi expands its Redmi Note lineup in India with the launch of the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max, featuring large batteries, high-refresh-rate OLED displays, and flagship-level hardware, signalling a shift towards premium offerings in the mid-range segment.
Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi Note line-up in India with two new mid-range phones, the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. According to Aaj Tak, the launch centres on unusually large batteries, higher-end displays and durability features that push the series closer to premium territory than most rivals in this price band. Xiaomi has also aligned the India debut with the wider global rollout that was first flagged by industry reports in the weeks before launch.
Pricing starts at Rs 36,999 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, rising to Rs 39,999 for the 8GB/256GB model. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max begins at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB version and goes up to Rs 55,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant. Aaj Tak said the company is offering launch discounts of Rs 3,000 on the Pro and Rs 5,000 on the Pro Max through selected bank cards. Sales begin on 17 September, with offline availability from 23 September.
Both phones use a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,200 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision support and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, as reported by Aaj Tak and earlier feature previews from Gadgets 360 and Beebom. The Pro Max uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset with Adreno 812 graphics, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, while the Pro is fitted with Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 silicon, LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1 storage depending on variant. Both run Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.
Camera hardware is led by a 50-megapixel main sensor on each model, with the Pro using an f/1.8 aperture and the Pro Max an f/1.5 aperture. The Pro carries a 16-megapixel front camera, while the Pro Max steps up to 32 megapixels. Battery capacity is the key differentiator: the Redmi Note 17 Pro has a 9,000mAh cell with 67W HyperCharge, and the Pro Max pairs a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging. Aaj Tak also highlighted Google Gemini integration, Circle to Search, 4K video recording and AI editing tools such as AI Glare Removal and AI Erase Pro.
