Xiaomi expands its tablet lineup with the launch of the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro in China, introducing a clear split between everyday and premium models featuring 3.2K displays, advanced hardware, and swift charging, signalling a strengthening focus on high-end performance.
Xiaomi has put two new tablets on sale in China, the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro, expanding its mainstream slate range with a clearer split between an everyday model and a higher-end version. According to reports from Gizmochina, Notebookcheck and other outlets, both devices share the same design language and core software platform, but differ in screen size, battery capacity, camera hardware and chipset choice.
The common display specification is one of the headline features. Both tablets use a 3.2K LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 12-bit colour, DCI-P3 coverage and support for HDR10, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision. Xiaomi has also added eye-comfort features, including flicker-free and low-blue-light hardware certification, plus wet-touch support for use in damp conditions. The standard Pad 9 has an 11.2-inch screen rated at 800 nits, while the Pad 9 Pro moves up to a 12.5-inch panel with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.
Performance is also differentiated more sharply this year. The Pad 9 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with an Adreno 829 graphics unit, while the Pad 9 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with an Adreno 825 GPU. Notebookcheck reported that the Pro model goes up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the standard tablet tops out at 12GB and 256GB. Both devices ship with Android 17-based HyperOS 4.0 and support stereo speakers, optional stylus input and keyboard accessories.
Battery and imaging follow the same premium-versus-mainstream split. Xiaomi gives the Pad 9 Pro an 11,000mAh battery with 67W wired charging, while the Pad 9 carries a 9,720mAh cell with 45W charging. Both also support 22.5W reverse wired charging. On the camera front, the Pro has a 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera, while the standard model keeps a 50MP rear sensor but uses a 13MP selfie camera. Connectivity across the range includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1.
Pricing in China starts at CNY 2,999 for the Pad 9 and CNY 3,799 for the Pad 9 Pro, with higher-spec and soft-light variants also listed. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed overseas launch plans, so local availability remains limited to the Chinese market for now.
