HP has announced the Googlebook 14, a sleek 14-inch laptop featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor, a 3K OLED display, and a focus on sustainability, promising a new premium arm for Google’s desktop ambitions.
HP has begun taking orders for the Googlebook 14, a new 14-inch model built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and positioned as a premium device for Google’s next desktop push. Chrome Unboxed said the laptop is part of a wider launch across multiple OEMs, while HP’s own product page places it in a 14-inch form factor with Googlebook OS, Gemini-focused features and a 3K OLED touch display.
The machine is designed to be unusually slim and light for its class, with HP claiming a 10.91mm profile and a weight of 2.74lb. According to HP and Qualcomm’s platform details, the Snapdragon X Elite uses 12 Oryon CPU cores and a Hexagon NPU rated at 45 TOPS for on-device AI work. HP is pairing that chip with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and up to a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, while a vapour chamber cooling system is meant to keep performance steady without excessive fan noise. The company says the 70Wh battery is good for up to 19 hours, and the bundled 65W USB-C charger can reach 50% in about 45 minutes.
The display is one of the main selling points. HP says buyers can choose between a 3K OLED panel with 120Hz variable refresh, 500 nits of brightness and full DCI-P3 coverage, or a lower-resolution 2K OLED option. The laptop also includes a 5MP webcam, a physical privacy shutter, dual microphones, quad speakers, a haptic touchpad and both a fingerprint reader and IR facial recognition for sign-in. The lid carries HP’s Glowbar indicator, which shows battery and charging status without opening the machine.
HP is also leaning hard on sustainability and connectivity. The chassis uses recycled metals, recycled plastics and ocean-bound plastics in selected components, and the device carries ENERGY STAR and EPEAT Gold with Climate+ registration. Connectivity includes two USB-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 support, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. HP says the Googlebook 14 will arrive in October, starting at $1,199.99 at HP.com and Best Buy, with 12 months of Google AI Pro and additional software subscriptions included in the retail package.
