Poco F9 Ultra outshines F9 Pro in early polls amid price concerns

A recent poll reveals the Poco F9 Ultra’s popularity surpasses that of the F9 Pro, driven by its larger battery and camera upgrades, despite similar pricing and ongoing competition from Xiaomi’s broader line-up.

Poco’s latest poll has delivered a clear verdict: the F9 Ultra is the model drawing real interest, while the F9 Pro is struggling to convince buyers at launch pricing. The Ultra appears to have the stronger appeal by a wide margin, with some readers already saying they have bought one, whereas the Pro is being treated as the less compelling option in the pair.

That reaction is hardly surprising given the early bird prices. According to the poll write-up, the F9 Ultra starts at $730 or €830, while the F9 Pro opens at $650 or €740. Even so, the Ultra is still the more persuasive proposition for many prospective buyers because its upgrades are easier to understand in practical terms. The new model keeps the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, so raw performance should be similar to the previous generation’s Ultra, but it adds a much larger 8,050mAh battery and a 200-megapixel main camera, up from 6,500mAh and 50 megapixels.

The Pro, meanwhile, is caught in an awkward position. It does gain the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 family chipset and a 200-megapixel main camera, but its smaller 6,330mAh battery and a relatively modest 2.5x telephoto camera appear to have held back enthusiasm. The poll also suggests that pricing is a bigger obstacle than specification sheets alone might imply, particularly before discounts begin.

That said, the piece notes that Poco’s F-series often receives frequent promotions, and that pattern may yet soften the criticism around both phones. The report also points out that some buyers are considering the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro instead, showing that Poco is not competing only with its own previous models, but also with closely related devices from within Xiaomi’s wider line-up.
