HP’s RTX Spark laptop packs workstation-class AI into a 16-inch notebook

HP is bringing up to 128GB of unified memory and 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance to Japan with its premium 16-inch OmniBook Ultra 16.

HP has expanded its RTX Spark-backed PC range with the Japanese launch of the 16-inch OmniBook Ultra 16 AI PC, a premium notebook aimed at users who want serious on-device AI capability in a portable format. According to HP Japan, orders open on 29 October, with pricing starting at ¥596,200, while the higher-end Extreme Plus model, also due to go on sale on that date, starts at ¥796,400. HP’s US newsroom said the machine is part of a wider push to bring personal agents, local AI and advanced content creation tools into consumer laptops.

The new model is built around NVIDIA RTX Spark and is being positioned for developers, creators, entrepreneurs and gamers who need more than conventional laptop graphics hardware can provide. HP says the OmniBook Ultra 16 can be specified with up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, figures that place it closer to a compact workstation than a mainstream notebook. That level of hardware is intended to support large-model inference and heavier AI workflows directly on the device, rather than relying only on cloud processing.

HP Japan said the design has also been optimised for thermals and mobility. The company has used a tower hinge and what it calls a trunk-style internal architecture, alongside a large heat pipe and twin ultra-thin fans, to improve airflow and cooling in a slim chassis. The laptop also includes a 16-inch 3K OLED panel with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification, four speakers, a 99Wh battery and claims of up to 17 hours of use, with fast charging to 50% in about 30 minutes.

The Japanese line-up will include three configurations. Alongside the Extreme Plus model, HP is offering an Extreme version with 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, and an Extreme Pro model with 128GB of memory and a 2TB SSD. HP first previewed RTX Spark-powered PCs at Computex 2026 and later said the OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14 would be among the world’s thinnest RTX Spark laptops, underlining how aggressively it is moving to make high-end AI hardware more portable.
