SanDisk’s new 512GB card is built for 40,000 hours of dash-cam recording

SanDisk has launched two high-endurance Guardian Series memory cards for continuous dash-cam and security-camera recording, with capacities up to 512GB and support for 4K UHD video.

SanDisk has unveiled the Guardian Series, a new family of high-endurance memory cards aimed at devices that record continuously, including dash cams, home security cameras and built-in monitoring systems. The company says the line is designed for the constant loop recording and regular overwriting that such devices demand, while also being built to cope with difficult operating conditions such as heat, humidity, water and dust.

According to SanDisk, the range is intended to support local recording when users want footage stored on-site rather than relying entirely on the cloud. That positioning reflects the growing role of cameras in home and vehicle security, where dependable storage can determine whether critical footage is still available when it is needed. The company said the Guardian Series is meant to combine broad compatibility with endurance for around-the-clock use.

The launch includes two dedicated cards: the Dash Cam Card and the Security Cam Card. SanDisk says the cards support video capture from Full HD up to 4K UHD and come in capacities from 32GB to 512GB. The 512GB version has been tested to withstand up to 40,000 hours of recorded drives, while the Security Cam Card is also rated to resist temperature extremes, water and dust.

Retail availability and pricing appear to vary by market. T3 reported that the cards are already on sale through selected retailers in the UK, with prices starting at £20.99. Other reports place the starting price at about $28.99 or €22.99, suggesting that SanDisk is rolling out the range internationally with local pricing set by region and channel.
