Huawei’s unusual Pura X View has reportedly sold about 449,800 units in China in roughly a month, even as delayed deliveries, stock-outs and reseller mark-ups frustrate buyers.
Huawei’s Pura X View has drawn strong interest in China despite persistent supply constraints, with one market watcher estimating sales of about 449,800 units in roughly a month. The figure suggests the unusual handset has found an audience quickly, even though many buyers are still struggling to obtain one at retail price.
According to the blogger, who tracks the domestic Chinese smartphone market, demand has remained elevated since launch. Resellers have reportedly pushed prices above the official level by between 500 and 1,000 yuan, while some would-be customers say the phone could have sold even more strongly if Huawei had been able to replenish stock more reliably.
That shortage is visible on Huawei’s own sales channels. The company’s website is currently showing delivery times for new orders extending to before 19 November, and the black version is listed as unavailable. In practice, that means the handset remains difficult to buy weeks after release, despite the early sales momentum.
The appeal of the device lies largely in its wide display. Huawei has paired the Pura X View with a 6.39-inch flat OLED panel at 2,232 x 1,320 pixels, using an unusual 16:9.5 aspect ratio that gives it a broader feel than many modern smartphones. The screen also features 1.05mm bezels on all sides, a 96.1 per cent screen-to-body ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and a claimed peak brightness of 6,500 nits in local areas, with Kunlun glass for protection.
Inside, Huawei uses its Kirin 9030S processor and a 6,400 sq mm vapour chamber for cooling. Pricing in China starts at 5,999 yuan for the 12GB/256GB model, rises to 6,999 yuan for the 12GB/512GB variant and reaches 8,499 yuan for the 12GB/1TB version. The combination of distinctive design, premium specifications and tight availability has helped keep interest high well after launch.
