The compact UGREEN Nexode Air 65W can outpace more powerful chargers on newer iPhones thanks to AVS support, but buyers must check which version they are purchasing.
UGREEN’s Nexode Air 65W is a compact USB-C charger that has drawn attention for a reason that is not obvious from its wattage alone: it supports AVS, or Adjustable Voltage Supply, the USB Power Delivery feature that can help newer iPhones charge more quickly and efficiently. In a market where output numbers are often treated as the main measure of performance, the charger’s appeal lies in protocol compatibility as much as raw power.
The device is built around GaN technology, which helps keep the casing small for travel use and light enough to carry without notice. Notebookcheck describes the updated version as a highly compact charger with foldable prongs, a GaN chip and multiple protection systems, while charge-test.com reports a weight of about 76 grams and notes that it can sustain its rated output for long periods. UGREEN also includes a USB-C cable in the box, making it a more complete bundle than many rivals at this price point.
The practical importance of AVS became clearer with Apple’s latest iPhone charging guidance. According to Apple’s specifications, the fastest early-stage charging on iPhone 18 Pro models depends not just on an appropriately rated adapter and cable, but also on AVS support. That is where the Nexode Air 65W stands out. In testing described by Macitynet, the charger helped an iPhone 18 Pro Max reach 35% in 10 minutes and 50% in 15 minutes, with power staying comparatively high through the first half of the charge. The same review said the phone reached 90% in around 45 minutes and completed a full charge in roughly 65 minutes.
That result matters because a higher wattage charger does not automatically mean faster charging. Macitynet compared the UGREEN unit with a 140W Anker USB-C charger that lacked AVS support and found that the newer iPhone’s charging curve was far less impressive without the right protocol negotiation. In that test, the 140W adapter delivered broadly similar times to the previous generation iPhone, despite its far greater headline output. The conclusion is straightforward: for recent Apple phones, compatibility can outweigh nominal power.
There is, however, a complication. Charge-test.com and other independent reports note that UGREEN appears to have released more than one version of the Nexode Air 65W under the same name, with technical differences between revisions. That makes careful checking essential before buying, especially on marketplaces where product listings may be inconsistent. According to Notebookcheck, UGREEN has now introduced an updated AVS-enabled version in Germany and the United States at prices of $39.99 and €34.99, while Macitynet reports a lower street price in Europe and says the charger was purchased for €21, cable included. For users with an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max, it is a strong value proposition, provided the listing clearly states AVS support.
