Samsung’s first open-ear Galaxy Buds model launches in South Korea on 27 October, promising a more stable fit, greater awareness of surrounding sounds and Galaxy AI-powered controls.
Samsung is bringing a new clip-on wireless earphone to its home market, introducing the Galaxy Buds On as a model designed to leave the ear canal open while still delivering music and calls. According to Samsung’s product information and the Korean report, the device goes on sale in South Korea on 27 October, marking the first time the company has used this form factor in the Galaxy Buds line. The launch places more emphasis on comfort and situational awareness than on the sealed, in-ear design common to most true wireless headphones.
The company says the Buds On use a shape-memory alloy in the ear hook so the fit can adapt to the wearer’s ear and remain stable during long listening sessions or exercise. The open structure is intended to let users hear surrounding sounds without removing the earbuds, while Samsung adds that it has also tried to limit audio leakage. Sound is handled by its Twin Boost Speakers, which are meant to strengthen low-frequency performance, and by a noise-reduction system designed to keep music from spilling out into the environment.
Samsung has also put call quality and hands-free control at the centre of the product pitch. The company says the Intelligent Clear Call feature improves voice transmission during calls, although it notes that leakage can still vary depending on fit, surroundings and volume. When paired with a Galaxy AI-enabled phone or tablet, the earbuds can respond to voice commands, react to head gestures and support quick voice memos, giving them a broader control set than a standard audio accessory.
The Galaxy Buds On will be sold in black for 299,000 won, or 29,9000 won as Samsung’s Korean announcement renders it, through Samsung’s online store, major e-commerce platforms and Samsung retail outlets. Buyers who purchase by 30 October are entitled to two coupons for 30% off selected Galaxy Buds accessories, which can be used until 20 December. Samsung also says the charging case is compatible with accessories made for the Galaxy Buds 4 series, allowing users to change the look of the case with existing add-ons.
