Vivo’s iQOO Neo 12 pairs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with active cooling, a 185Hz 2K display and 9,000mAh battery, pushing mid-range phone specifications towards flagship territory.
The iQOO Neo 12 is a reminder that the mid-range label now covers hardware once reserved for far pricier handsets. According to the specifications listed by Vivo, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same chipset used in Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it pairs that processor with a custom active cooling fan and a vapour chamber intended to sustain performance during demanding gaming sessions. That combination places the device unusually close to flagship territory for a model aimed at buyers watching the price more closely.
Its display hardware is similarly aggressive. Vivo says the phone uses a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 2K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate, alongside 2,200-nit peak brightness, DC dimming and 2,160Hz PWM dimming. The company also lists a custom display chip designed to improve touch responsiveness, plus a sensitive gyro system that appears aimed squarely at mobile gaming. For a handset in this bracket, that is an unusually extensive set of screen and input features.
Battery life and durability also appear to have been a priority. Vivo says the iQOO Neo 12 carries a 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging, while also claiming an IP69 rating despite the presence of active cooling. The phone further includes an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, an infrared sensor and stereo speakers, which helps explain why it is being positioned as more than a simple gaming device.
Camera hardware is less extravagant, but still respectable. Vivo lists a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP front-facing camera, all housed in a raised rear module. The device is available in Contender, Frost Blade Blue and Shadow Black, with storage variants from 12GB/256GB to 16GB/1TB. In China, pricing starts at CNY 4,199 and rises to CNY 6,299, while Vivo says no global launch date has been announced.
