PSB introduces the iQ2, a Bluos-enabled, two-speaker setup offering high-resolution sound and versatile connectivity in a simplified design aimed at bedrooms, offices, and living rooms.
PSB has added the iQ2 to its BluOS-enabled speaker line, positioning it as a simpler alternative to a conventional hi-fi system. The two-speaker setup combines amplification, digital-to-analogue conversion and streaming in one package, so users can move between music playback, television sound and vinyl without adding a separate amplifier or network player. According to PSB’s product information, the aim is to deliver a full stereo system that is easier to place and easier to use.
Each speaker has its own amplifier and DAC, which PSB says helps keep voices anchored in the centre and separates instruments more clearly across the soundstage. StereoNet reported that the iQ2 uses a Burr-Brown Class-D amplifier platform, while the speakers are rated for high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/192kHz. That places the model in the growing category of compact active speakers that try to combine audiophile features with a less cluttered setup.
BluOS is at the heart of the system. Through the BluOS Controller app, users can access more than 20 streaming services, manage local music libraries and switch between sources. The speakers also support wireless linking between the left and right units, which gives more freedom in room placement than a cabled stereo pair. For inputs, the iQ2 includes phono, HDMI eARC, optical and Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive, covering turntables, televisions and smartphones.
TechRadar’s review of the iQ2 said the speaker system is compact but capable, with a broad feature set and strong overall clarity. It also noted a U.S. price of $1,399, or $1,499 in walnut veneer, while PSB has highlighted seven painted finishes alongside a walnut option with copper accents. In practical terms, the iQ2 is aimed at bedrooms, offices and living rooms, where users may want proper stereo sound without the complexity of separate components.
