The Indian government has approved a Rs 3,000 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Rajnandgaon, promising to reshape the district into a vital node for semiconductors, electric vehicles, and smart electronics manufacturing, supported by significant public investment and infrastructure development.
The Union government has cleared an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster 2.0 in Rajnandgaon, a move that Chhattisgarh leaders say could turn the district into a new industrial node for the sector. According to TelecomTalk and the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation, the project is expected to draw more than Rs 3,000 crore in investment and create over 9,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The cluster will be developed in Patewa over about 306 acres, with the state agency handling implementation. The Centre will provide Rs 210.56 crore in assistance, covering roughly half of the project’s estimated Rs 432.08 crore cost. The plan is to build factory-ready space with continuous power and water supply, plus warehouses and other industrial infrastructure meant to cut the time needed for companies to begin production.
The site is intended to support manufacturing in semiconductors, electric vehicles and smart electronics, areas that are increasingly central to India’s efforts to localise more of the technology supply chain. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology says the EMC 2.0 scheme is designed to create world-class infrastructure for the electronics systems design and manufacturing sector and to strengthen domestic capacity while supporting employment.
Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has welcomed the approval and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, according to TelecomTalk. Separately, BT News India reported that Rajnandgaon is also slated to host the state’s first space manufacturing cluster, suggesting the district may emerge as a broader industrial base rather than a single-purpose electronics park. A May 2025 project update cited by New Projects Tracker said the Rajnandgaon electronics cluster had already secured environmental consent from state authorities, indicating the project had moved through key regulatory steps before the latest approval.
