During Flipkart’s Freedom Sale, the iPhone 17 256GB drops to ₹71,900, marking a significant discount from Apple’s official price, as the retailer leverages limited-time offers to attract upgrade buyers.
Flipkart’s Freedom Sale is set to put Apple’s iPhone 17 at ₹71,900, a sharp drop from Apple’s listed starting price of ₹82,900 in India for the 256GB model. The promotion runs from August 8 to August 15, according to the sale teaser, and will also include bank-linked discounts, although Flipkart has not yet disclosed the full offer structure.
The price is notable because Apple’s official India store still lists the iPhone 17 at ₹82,900 for the 256GB variant and ₹102,900 for the 512GB version. Apple says the handset comes in Mist Blue, Lavender, Black, White and Sage, with EMI plans, trade-in offers, free shipping and store pick-up also available. The device features a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Apple’s A19 chip and 8GB of RAM.
The Freedom Sale price is close to the kind of discount Flipkart has used on the model before. During its GOAT Sale in July, the retailer listed the iPhone 17 at ₹70,900, while Pro models were also cut by as much as ₹22,000, according to LiveMint. That suggests Flipkart is continuing to use major sale events to push premium smartphones with limited-time reductions and bank offers.
For buyers considering an upgrade, the deal is most compelling for those moving from an older iPhone or another ageing handset. The iPhone 17 has been positioned by review sites such as Gadgets 360 and Smartprix as a practical upgrade, thanks to its improved display, camera system and battery life. For recent iPhone owners, however, a lower price alone may not justify a change.
