Nitecore unveils the NB10000 Gen4, an extremely lightweight, weather-resistant power bank featuring silicon-carbon cells and innovative usability enhancements designed for hikers, travellers, and trail runners seeking dependable on-the-go charging.
Nitecore’s NB10000 Gen4 is a power bank built for people who measure kit by the gram rather than by marketing claims. At 143 grammes, it combines a 10,000mAh rating with dual USB-C ports, IPX7 water resistance and a carbon-fibre shell. Nitecore says the model is aimed at hikers, trail runners and frequent travellers who need dependable charging in a very small package.
The main advance over the previous version is the switch to silicon-carbon cells. In practical terms, that chemistry allows more energy to be stored for the same mass, which is exactly what makes this class of product difficult to improve. The Gen4 also adds Knock to Wake, a tap-based battery check that replaces the usual button press, and RGB port lights that make the connection points easier to find in low light. Nitecore and third-party coverage both describe those features as part of a broader refinement rather than a full redesign.
Field testing published with the review suggests the gains are not just theoretical. On a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, the battery took the phone from 1% to full in 4 hours and 33 minutes, while still retaining roughly half its own charge afterwards. A second charge took the same handset from 1% to 65%. The unit can recharge itself in about 4 hours with a QC 3.0 charger, although using both USB-C ports at once reduces the combined output from 22.5W to 15W. That makes it suitable for phones, watches and small accessories, but not for laptops that need far more power.
For outdoor use, the NB10000 Gen4 has a stronger case than many rivals. The IPX7 rating means it is built to survive temporary immersion, which is uncommon among ultralight power banks, and the included lanyard-style USB-C cable helps keep the kit organised. Because the battery is rated at about 37Wh, it also sits comfortably below the 100Wh limit for cabin carriage on flights. That makes it easier to pack for travel than heavier high-capacity models.
The trade-off is price and impact protection. The Gen4 uses hard plastic corners instead of the rubber bumpers seen on the previous generation, which may slightly weaken corner resistance in a drop. It also sits at the higher end of the market for a 10,000mAh unit. Even so, for users whose priority is the best balance of low weight, weather resistance and usable capacity, it is one of the most convincing options in the category.
