HIDISC has launched a compact, retractable USB-C cable designed for on-the-go users, featuring magnetic connectors and support for up to 60W power delivery, targeting commuters and travellers seeking clutter-free charging solutions.
HIDISC has released a retractable Type-C cable designed for users who want a charger that is easier to pack and less likely to tangle in daily use. The model, HD-RTCC60W1BK, comes in black, is 1m long and is being sold through Amazon, Rakuten, the company’s official site, select home centres and electronics retailers, as well as MAG-LAB, its direct store.
The company says the cable is built around portability. When stored, it is less than 2cm thick and measures about 6.5cm by 5.5cm, with a weight of under 45g. That puts it in the category of pocketable accessories for commuters, travellers and office workers who want to reduce bulk in a bag or desk drawer.
Its retractable mechanism lets users stop the cable at an intermediate length, which should make it more practical than fixed short leads in cramped settings such as café tables or car interiors. HIDISC also uses a flat cable design to reduce tangling and a two-way retraction structure so that pulling one side extends the other side by the same amount. A light pull is enough to wind it back into the housing.
The company has also added a magnetic storage system that holds both USB-C ends against the side of the body. HIDISC says this helps prevent the connectors from swinging loose and reduces the risk of scratching nearby items. For power delivery, the cable supports up to 60W at 20V/3A, which is enough for smartphones, tablets and lighter laptops such as the MacBook Air. It also supports USB 2.0 data transfer at up to 480Mbps, so it can handle basic syncing as well as charging.
