Expected at the September 9 keynote, Apple may showcase its first foldable iPhone, alongside updates to iPhones, Apple Watch, and smart home products amid supply chain challenges.
Apple is expected to use its September launch window to showcase one of its broadest hardware line-ups in years, with rumours pointing to a keynote on September 9 that could bring new iPhones, watches and home devices. None of the products has been confirmed, but reports across Apple-focused outlets suggest the event may be unusually busy if the company chooses to unveil everything at once.
At the centre of the speculation are the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. MacRumors says Apple is likely to keep the overall design close to last year’s Pro models while making deeper changes inside, including a smaller Dynamic Island, a variable-aperture main camera and a new A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process. The same reporting points to Apple’s C2 modem and a dark cherry finish as a possible new colour option.
The more surprising rumour is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra. According to MacRumors, the device could open to an iPad-like 7.8-inch display from a 5.5-inch outer screen, giving Apple an entry into a category it has so far avoided. Reports also suggest the foldable may not arrive on the same timetable as the Pro phones, with supply-chain issues still a factor.
On the wearables side, Apple Watch Series 12 is tipped to be more of a performance update than a redesign. MacRumors has reported that Apple is testing Wi-Fi and cellular versions and may introduce its first new watch chip in three generations. The same reporting and separate coverage from PhoneArena and Macworld suggest battery life, health features and possibly Touch ID could be part of the wider package, while a return of the ceramic case remains under discussion but is not certain.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is also said to be due for modest internal upgrades rather than a visual overhaul. Apple is expected to use the same faster chip family as the standard Series 12 model, while improving battery life and selected fitness features. Separately, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has said Apple’s industrial design team has also explored screenless fitness devices, although that work is not expected to appear this year.
Apple’s home ambitions may get just as much attention. The long-rumoured smart display, reportedly known internally as J490 and referred to in leaks as the HomePad, is said to combine a 7-inch square screen with either a wall mount or speaker base. Reports describe it as a hub for calls, Siri AI and core apps such as Calendar, Photos and Home, while Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are also expected to receive updates aimed at better support for Apple Intelligence and tighter device integration. Apple has not announced any of these products, and its events page still lists WWDC 2026 as its most recent presentation.
