The Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G stands out with its premium build, advanced camera system, and robust battery life, challenging perceptions of mid-range devices with high-end specifications and features.
The OPPO Reno16 Pro 5G is designed to look and feel like a more expensive handset than its mid-range label suggests. Notebookcheck described it as compact, with a premium build and a 6.32-inch AMOLED panel that refreshes at 144Hz, while YugaTech’s review noted that the narrower body makes it easier to hold for long sessions than many larger rivals. The phone also carries IP69K protection, which should give buyers extra confidence around dust and water exposure.
Its display is one of the clearest selling points. According to YugaTech, the screen reaches about 1,800 nits of peak brightness in high brightness mode, which makes outdoor viewing practical, and it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The review also found the stereo speakers loud and clear, though light on bass, while the in-display fingerprint reader and face unlock were both quick in day-to-day use.
The camera package is unusually ambitious for the class. YugaTech reported a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel autofocus selfie camera. That setup delivered strong daylight shots, convincing portrait separation and solid 4K recording at up to 60fps on both front and rear cameras. The review also praised OPPO’s optional Bubble accessory, which works as a viewfinder, remote shutter and small display badge.
Performance is another area where the Reno16 Pro 5G aims high. YugaTech said the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 SUPER, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage were enough to handle demanding apps and games smoothly, with only heavier titles such as Wuthering Waves producing noticeable heat. Notebookcheck and CHIP.de also characterised the phone as a strong all-round performer, although CHIP.de said it still stops short of true flagship class in some areas.
Battery life should be a major draw for most buyers. YugaTech’s testing put the 6,700mAh battery at 12 hours and 19 minutes in PCMark, and the review said the included 80W SUPERVOOC charger refuels the phone quickly. The software, ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, was presented as polished and relatively clean, with a growing set of OPPO AI tools for search, writing, translation and voice notes. That said, YugaTech found the automatic Macro switching irritating and said aggressive image processing can still show its limits at extreme zoom. At PHP 74,999, the Reno16 Pro 5G is not an easy recommendation, but it offers a rare mix of compact design, strong battery life, capable cameras and fast charging.
