SoundPEATS UU2 challenges open-ear audio norms with bass boost and comfort innovations

SoundPEATS launches the UU2, an open-ear clip-on earbud combining enhanced bass, comfort, and smart features, aiming to redefine the category for commuters and exercisers alike.

SOUNDPEATS has introduced the UU2, also sold in some markets as the POP Clip2, an open-ear clip-on earbud aimed at listeners who want ambient awareness without giving up stronger bass. The launch comes as the category grows in use for commuting, exercise and office wear, but still carries a reputation for thin sound. According to SOUNDPEATS, the new model is meant to challenge that assumption.

At the centre of the design is a 12mm titanium-coated dual-magnet dynamic driver paired with DynamicEQ, which the company says adjusts low frequencies in real time. SOUNDPEATS claims the result is fuller bass and a more balanced presentation than is typical for open-ear clip-on products. The firm also says the earphones deliver higher output than earlier clip-on models, with greater sound pressure than the Clip1 and POP Clip.

Comfort is a major part of the pitch. Each earbud weighs about 5g and uses an updated U-Bridge structure with a skin-friendly coating. SOUNDPEATS says the redesign reduces pressure on the ear by 61% compared with the previous model. Unlike in-ear headphones, the UU2 sits outside the ear canal, which should suit longer listening sessions and help users remain aware of traffic, conversations and other surroundings. The earbuds use physical buttons rather than touch controls, a choice that should reduce accidental inputs during movement.

Battery life is listed at up to 10 hours per charge, with 42 hours including the case. A 10-minute top-up is said to provide about 2 hours of playback. The model also includes Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint connectivity, LDAC support and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification on compatible devices. SOUNDPEATS says the accompanying app allows EQ adjustment and firmware updates, while AI-assisted call noise reduction and a privacy mode are intended to make the earbuds more practical in shared spaces. The IPX5 rating means the model is designed for sweat and light splashes, not immersion.

SOUNDPEATS says the UU2 will go on sale from August 10, 2026, through Amazon storefronts in major markets, with a US price of $49.99. The company lists launch pricing of £59.99 in the UK, €69.99 in Europe, AUD $59.99 in Australia, CAD $68.99 in Canada, AED 139 in the United Arab Emirates and SAR 159 in Saudi Arabia. The earphones have also received the VGP 2026 Summer Gold Award, a further sign that the company is positioning the model as one of its most ambitious open-ear releases so far.
