XMG refreshes its Apex gaming line with a new 17.3-inch model featuring AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, offering significant upgrades in processing, graphics, and display technology aimed at gamers and creators.
XMG has refreshed its Apex gaming line with a 17.3-inch model built around AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX and, in the latest variant, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. The company positions the Apex 17 M25 as a high-performance machine for gaming and creator workloads, with a 2,560×1,440 IPS panel running at 240 Hz and support for the full sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts, which should make it more appealing for colour-sensitive work than a typical gaming notebook.
The processor is a 16-core, 32-thread chip with a stated boost clock of up to 5.4GHz and 64MB of L3 cache. XMG lists configurations with either the RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, both tied to a maximum graphics power of 115W. The RTX 5070 version brings 12GB of GDDR7 memory, while the RTX 5060 comes with 8GB. The system supports up to 128GB of DDR5-5600 memory across two SO-DIMM slots, plus two PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSDs with RAID 0 and RAID 1 support.
On the connectivity side, the laptop includes USB-A and USB-C ports, HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. XMG says the USB-C ports support DisplayPort 2.1 and G-SYNC, and one of them can deliver 100W USB-C Power Delivery. The company also says the machine can drive up to three external monitors. A 1080p webcam with noise reduction and a privacy shutter is included, along with a backlit keyboard offering 15 lighting options and a Microsoft Precision touchpad.
The chassis weighs 2.8kg and ships with a 73Wh battery and a 230W power adapter. XMG lists a two-year warranty. Compared with the earlier Apex 17 M21, which used older Ryzen 5000-series processors and up to GeForce RTX 3070 graphics, the new model is a clear generational shift in both processing and graphics hardware, while keeping the same large-screen, desktop-replacement format.
