Vivint launches a new AI-powered smart thermostat designed to simplify temperature management, cut costs, and integrate seamlessly with its connected-home ecosystem, promising enhanced convenience and energy savings.
Thermostat disputes are a familiar domestic ritual: one room is too warm, another is too cold and nobody wants to be the person who touches the dial. Vivint’s Smart Thermostat is designed to remove some of that friction by placing heating and cooling controls inside the same Vivint app used for the rest of the company’s connected-home system. That means temperature changes can be made alongside security, lighting and camera controls rather than through a separate app.
The company says the device is meant to be straightforward to install, with professional support available for households that do not want to deal with wiring or HVAC settings themselves. Vivint’s installation guidance stresses safety steps, including switching off the HVAC breaker before starting and photographing the existing wiring for reference. In practice, that positions the thermostat as part of a managed service rather than a do-it-yourself product.
Its main appeal is automation. Vivint says the thermostat can learn household routines and adjust heating and cooling around occupancy, so empty rooms are not being conditioned unnecessarily. The company also promotes remote control through the app, which lets users change settings when plans shift or when they realise the house is running at the wrong temperature. Vivint describes the system as compatible with common HVAC setups and says it can also work with humidifiers and dehumidifiers connected through existing thermostats.
Energy savings are central to the pitch. Vivint says its AI-powered features can reduce annual costs by as much as $300, while the company’s wider materials say smart thermostats can cut heating and cooling bills by 8% to 12%. It also says the device is ENERGY STAR certified, a marker that it meets efficiency benchmarks. For households already committed to Vivint’s ecosystem, the value is less about novelty than consolidation: one app, one control scheme and fewer excuses for why the temperature has become everyone’s problem again.
