Apple launches the Ultra 3, its most robust smartwatch yet, boasting a rugged titanium case, extended battery life, satellite connectivity, and comprehensive fitness metrics, available now at a $100 discount.
Apple’s Ultra 3 sits at the top of the company’s smartwatch line-up and is aimed squarely at people who want a watch that can cope with training, travel and rougher conditions rather than just alerts and step counts. The current deal trims $100 from the usual price, which makes an already premium device a little easier to justify for iPhone owners who need serious outdoor capability. Apple positions the watch as a multi-sport tool with satellite features, cellular support and a battery life built for longer sessions away from the charger.
According to Apple’s specifications, the Ultra 3 uses a 49mm Grade 5 titanium case that measures 49mm by 44mm by 12mm and weighs about 61.6 grams. It also has a flat sapphire crystal, IP6X dust resistance, 100m water resistance and compliance with EN13319 for recreational scuba diving to 40m. The watch runs on the S10 chip, which includes a 64-bit dual-core processor and a four-core Neural Engine, with 64GB of storage for apps, music and offline media.
The display is another major selling point. Apple says the always-on Retina panel can reach 3,000 nits of peak brightness, which should improve readability in direct sunlight. That matters for runners, cyclists and hikers who need pace, heart-rate and navigation data at a glance. Business Wire, covering Apple’s launch announcement, said the Ultra 3 also has a 1Hz always-on refresh rate, 5G cellular support and satellite communications for emergency messaging, location sharing and contact with emergency services when off the grid.
Battery life is one of the clearest reasons to choose the Ultra over a standard Apple Watch. Apple says it can last up to 42 hours in normal use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. For endurance athletes, the watch adds dual-frequency GPS, workout metrics, running power, training load, Heart Rate Zones and support for activities ranging from swimming and rowing to skiing and hiking. TechRadar’s review also noted the Ultra 3’s role as Apple’s most rugged watch to date, with a focus on outdoor users who will use its larger size, brighter display and specialist safety features.
