Apple’s £1,999 foldable iPhone opens for UK pre-orders on Friday

Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be available to pre-order in the UK from 1pm BST on 16 October, with prices rising to £3,199 for the 2TB model.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is now close to launch in the UK, with pre-orders due to open at 1.00pm BST on Friday 16 October and general availability following on 23 October, according to Apple’s UK shop and product pages. The model, called iPhone Duo, combines a 7.6-inch internal display with a 5.4-inch outer screen and is being positioned as a device that merges tablet-style screen space with pocketable portability.

The pricing places it firmly at the premium end of the market. Apple’s UK store lists the 256GB version at £1,999, rising to £2,199 for 512GB, £2,599 for 1TB and £3,199 for the 2TB model. Monthly finance starts at £66.63 for the entry-level version, with Apple also offering SIM-free purchase options and network compatibility details on its purchase page.

The launch comes amid strong interest in foldables, a category long dominated by Samsung and increasingly crowded by other high-end alternatives. MacRumors reported that Apple set the same pre-order and release timetable across more than 70 countries, including the UK, and said the handset would ship in two colours, Star White and Night Sky. Apple’s product material also highlights a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system and the A20 Pro chip, which the company presents as central to the phone’s performance and power efficiency.

Apple is already allowing customers to prepare for pre-ordering in advance by selecting colour, storage and accessories on its website, then saving payment details and an Apple ID before the sales window opens. That should reduce the time needed on launch day, although demand is likely to be intense given the phone’s price, its foldable design and Apple’s entry into a segment that has so far been led by rivals. Reports cited by Tech Times suggest the company has increased production plans, which would indicate Apple expects supply pressure early on.
