Fairphone’s upcoming 6+ model continues its legacy of repairability and longevity, featuring notable hardware upgrades including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip and 12GB RAM, aligned with market shifts and consumer demand for sustainable, long-lasting smartphones.
Fairphone’s next handset appears designed to extend, rather than reinvent, the company’s formula. The Fairphone 6+, according to Phonandroid, would keep the brand’s familiar emphasis on modular construction, repairability and long software support while lifting a few core components in a market where memory prices have risen sharply. The result looks like a cautious upgrade aimed at buyers who value longevity as much as raw specification. Phonandroid reports that the price in France is set at €649.
On paper, the biggest change is the move to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, replacing the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 used in the Fairphone 6. The phone is also said to come with 12GB of LPDDR5 memory, up from 8GB, while keeping 256GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for expansion. Phonandroid says the display and battery should remain broadly unchanged, which suggests Fairphone is reserving the more meaningful hardware shift for processing and multitasking rather than for the parts users see every day.
That would keep the 6+ close to the current Fairphone 6, which Fairphone itself describes as a 6.31-inch Full HD LTPO P-OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a replaceable 4,415mAh battery. Frandroid, Numerama and 01net all underline the same broader identity: a phone built around easy servicing, with multiple replaceable components including the display, USB-C port and camera parts. Those reports also say the existing model supports 5G and can be expanded to 2TB through microSD.
Software remains one of Fairphone’s main selling points. Phonandroid says the 6+ will ship with Android 16 and should later move to Android 17, while Fairphone promises eight years of Android upgrades and security patches. The handset is also expected to support eSIM 5G, though not simultaneous dual-SIM use with a physical card and an eSIM. Colour choices are expected to include Noir Horizon, Bleu Cobalt and Vert Forest, while the launch date has yet to be confirmed.
