Fairphone 6+ rumors emerge ahead of August launch with modest upgrades and higher price

Fairphone is expected to reveal the Fairphone 6+ on 18 August, featuring modest hardware improvements, a new colour option, and a price increase, continuing its focus on modularity and repairability amidst evolving supply chain challenges.

Fairphone is set to unveil a new handset on 18 August at 13:00 CET, with recent reporting suggesting the company will present a Fairphone 6+ rather than a standard Fairphone 6 update. The timing matches Fairphone’s own earlier announcement for an August launch, although the naming now appears to have shifted in the latest rumours and coverage.

The expected changes are modest but clear. According to recent reports, the device will move to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 platform, rise to 12GB of RAM and add a Cobalt Blue finish. The rest of the specification is said to remain broadly unchanged, which would fit Fairphone’s usual approach of extending an established hardware platform rather than redesigning the product each year.

Price is also expected to climb. The latest rumours put the handset at €649, which would make it €50 more expensive than the launch price of the previous model and €100 above its current selling price. That would keep it in premium mid-range territory, but still below the pricing of many flagship phones with similar memory and chipset classes.

Any new model will also be judged against Fairphone’s wider selling points. The company has long emphasised modular construction, repairability, recycled materials and longer software support, while recent coverage has also pointed to features such as an IP55 ingress rating, a five-year warranty and durable construction aimed at reducing replacement cycles. In the US, however, Notebookcheck reported that availability through Murena came with a caveat because spare parts were not yet ready, underlining that repair-friendly design still depends on the surrounding supply chain.
