Garmin’s six-model MARQ Gen 3 collection adds a larger AMOLED display, built-in inReach messaging and specialist tools for aviation, diving, golf and tactical use, with UK prices starting at £2,199.99.
Garmin has expanded its MARQ luxury smartwatch line with a third generation that pushes the range further into high-end territory, adding six model-specific variants and a larger display, while keeping the focus on navigation, connectivity and specialist sport functions. The collection starts at £2,199.99 in the UK and will go on sale on 5 November, according to the company.
The new series comprises the MARQ Adventurer, Athlete, Aviator, Commander, Diver and Golfer. Garmin says each watch uses a Grade 5 titanium case, a sapphire lens and a ceramic bezel, paired with a strap or bracelet tailored to the intended use. All six models feature a 1.4-inch borderless AMOLED screen, which Garmin describes as the largest ever fitted to a MARQ watch. Retail pricing in the US starts at $2,500, underlining the range’s position at the top end of the consumer smartwatch market, as reported by AndroidPure and Garmin-focused sites.
Beyond materials and design, the new MARQ generation adds features that move it closer to a compact expedition and communications device. Garmin says the watches include worldwide preloaded TopoActive mapping, address search and inReach connectivity, allowing users to exchange messages through satellite or LTE without an attached smartphone. The watches also add a speaker and microphone, an LED torch and emergency SOS messaging routed through Garmin’s 24-hour response coordination centre. Industry reporting notes that some inReach functions require an active subscription plan and that LTE or satellite coverage will depend on region and service availability.
Each edition is tuned to a different activity. The Adventurer brings ClimbPro and other mapping tools for hiking, running and cycling. The Athlete adds performance metrics such as stamina and running efficiency. The Aviator includes flight mapping, aviation weather and a dedicated UTC hand. The Commander is the most tactical of the group, with night-vision support, stealth mode and an Applied Ballistics solver. The Diver is built for underwater use to 40 metres and adds marine navigation and boat control functions. The Golfer comes with Virtual Caddie, green contour data and more than 43,000 preloaded courses. Across the range, Garmin has also added ECG, sleep tracking, stress monitoring and morning and evening summaries, while battery life is rated at up to 18 days in smartwatch mode. Susan Lyman, Garmin’s vice-president of consumer sales and marketing, said the collection was aimed at buyers who “demand excellence”, combining the MARQ design language with “more advanced navigation and smart features than ever before”.
