Gigabyte’s new Gaming A18 laptop combines upper mid-range hardware with a large 18-inch display, setting a new standard for versatile gaming and content creation on a budget.
Gigabyte’s Gaming A18 is now appearing at several German retailers with a specification sheet that puts it squarely in the upper mid-range gaming category. The machine combines AMD’s Ryzen 7 260 with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070, 32 GB of DDR5 memory and a 1 TB SSD, while pricing starts at €1,699, according to listings from retailers including Alternate and Notebooksbilliger. The model has not yet been independently tested, so the current picture comes from retailer data and product summaries.
The core hardware is aimed at gaming, streaming, rendering and editing rather than light everyday use. The Ryzen 7 260 is an eight-core, 16-thread chip based on AMD’s Zen 4 Hawk Point platform, while the RTX 5070 is listed with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory and an 85 W graphics power limit. That power envelope suggests a focus on balanced performance rather than the highest possible frame rates, but it should still be capable for modern games at the panel’s native resolution, especially with Nvidia’s usual driver and upscaling features.
The display is one of the A18’s more distinctive features. It uses an 18-inch IPS panel with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165 Hz refresh rate and a matte finish. Notebookcheck says the screen also covers the DCI-P3 colour space, which should help with more accurate colour work than a typical basic gaming panel. A MUX switch is included, allowing the discrete GPU to connect directly to the display and reducing the overhead of integrated graphics in supported use cases.
Gigabyte also appears to have given the laptop a useful set of practical extras. The specification list includes dual SSD slots, Gigabit Ethernet, RGB keyboard lighting and a USB 4 port with Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode, making the system more flexible for docking stations, external displays and some expansion setups. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed. B&H Photo Video lists a closely related configuration with Wi-Fi 6E, WINDFORCE 0dB cooling, Dolby Atmos audio and a 180-degree hinge at $1,999.99, while a March 2026 YouTube review of the A18 points to broadly the same core platform and suggests Gigabyte is targeting buyers who want a large-screen gaming laptop without moving into premium pricing territory.
