GPD’s WIN Max 3 is shaping up as one of the most expensive entries in the handheld gaming-PC market, with a starting price of at least $1,700, according to IXBT News and product details published by GPD’s own store and reseller pages. That places it firmly in premium territory for a device that is meant to bridge the gap between a compact laptop and a portable games machine.
The base version is said to use AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 388 chip, an eight-core processor paired with Radeon 8060S graphics, 32GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Higher-end versions are expected to move up to the 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395, with as much as 128GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 4TB of SSD storage, according to the published specifications.
GPD also appears to be leaning heavily on display quality and modular design to justify the price.
