Huawei introduces the slim and portable MatePad Air (2026) in Indonesia, emphasising AI software integration and premium design to rival laptops for mobile professionals and content creators.
Huawei has brought the MatePad Air (2026) to Indonesia, positioning the tablet as a premium device for users who want laptop-style productivity in a far slimmer form. The company has set the price at Rp13,999,000 and says the model is aimed at people who need portability without giving up serious work features.
At the launch in Jakarta, Huawei Device product head Edi Supartono highlighted the design as a key selling point. He said the tablet is only 5.3mm thick, making it marginally slimmer than the previous version, while Huawei says the device weighs 509g on its own and 817g with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard attached. That puts it in a category that is easier to carry than a conventional laptop, especially for students, mobile workers and content creators.
Huawei is also leaning heavily on AI software to justify the higher-end positioning. The MatePad Air (2026) ships with PC-level WPS Office AI and Huawei Notes, alongside tools such as PDF summarisation, AI-assisted slide generation, spreadsheet support and speech-to-text with speaker identification. The company is also promoting compatibility with GoPaint, Filmora and CapCut, signalling an effort to make the tablet useful for both office tasks and creative work.
The hardware package is built around a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display with 2.8K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, while the PaperMatte finish is intended to reduce glare and improve the writing feel when used with a stylus. Power comes from a 10,100mAh battery with 66W SuperCharge support, and Huawei claims up to 10 hours of video playback. The tablet also includes a 50-megapixel rear camera, a 12-megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi 7 and six HUAWEI SOUND speakers. It is available in White and Airy Blue.
