Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist redefines convertible laptops with motorised dual-rotation hinge

Lenovo unveils the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist featuring a revolutionary motorised dual-rotation hinge that automatically adjusts the display to follow user posture, promising enhanced usability and flexibility in premium business notebooks.

Lenovo has confirmed new details of its ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist, a 14-inch convertible laptop built around a motorised dual-rotation hinge that can reposition the screen automatically. The design, first shown at CES 2026, is unusual even by the standards of premium business notebooks and is intended to let the display follow the user’s posture or use case without manual adjustment, according to reporting from TechRadar, Engadget and Tom’s Guide.

The company says the machine will ship with Intel’s Panther Lake Core Ultra 5 325 or Core Ultra X7 358H processors and up to 32GB of memory. Lenovo’s own product page also indicates support for LPDDR5x memory and a PCIe storage configuration, while Notebookcheck reported that the chassis includes an M.2-2280 slot even though the configurations Lenovo is planning to sell use M.2-2242 SSDs.

Battery life is another headline specification. Lenovo says the 75Wh battery can deliver more than 21 hours in the JEITA-BAT-3.0 test, a figure that should be treated as a laboratory result rather than a guarantee of real-world use. The display is fixed at 14 inches and uses an OLED panel with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, full DCI-P3 colour coverage, a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 120Hz, 500 nits of SDR brightness and 1,100 nits for HDR content.

Lenovo has not yet said when the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist will go on sale. TechRadar reported at CES that the laptop was priced at $1,499, but Lenovo has not publicly confirmed a launch schedule in the materials reviewed. The absence of a release date leaves the device positioned more as a technology showcase than a finished product line, even though the specifications now appear substantially defined.
