Nocs Provisions reveals Portal AFN7, a rugged, screen-free camera for outdoor enthusiasts

Nocs Provisions launches the Portal AFN7 Adventure Camera, a lightweight, screenless design with weather resistance and optical pairing, catering to hikers, travellers, and casual photographers seeking simplicity and durability in outdoor imaging.

Nocs Provisions has entered the camera market with the Portal AFN7 Adventure Camera, a screen-free model aimed at people who want a simple way to shoot outdoors without relying on a phone or a rear display. Priced at $179.95, it is being pitched as a compact, rugged option for hikers, travellers and casual photographers who prefer to compose through a viewfinder and leave the rest to the camera.

The Portal AFN7 uses a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor to record 16-megapixel stills and 4K video at 30 frames per second. It pairs that with a 22.5mm f/2.2 lens and an 8x zoom range, while keeping the body light at 140g. Nocs says the camera carries an IP56 rating, which means it is designed to resist dust and rain rather than full immersion, and the body uses impact-absorbing ToughWave housing for added protection in rough conditions.

A key part of the design is the absence of a rear screen. Instead, users frame shots through an electronic viewfinder and can choose from six colour presets, plus a no-filter option for later editing. The built-in looks are named Portal 64, Natur XP, Solgata, NP Posi., NP Lomo and B&W, with each preset intended to mimic or echo familiar film stocks and outdoor-friendly tonal styles. Nocs says the aim is to reduce post-shot distraction and keep the photographer focused on the moment rather than on reviewing images immediately after capture.

The camera can also be paired with Nocs binoculars or monoculars through the Noc-Dock accessory, which aligns the camera with the company’s optics for magnified wildlife or distant subject shooting. That positions the Portal AFN7 differently from other screen-free compact cameras already on the market, such as Camp Snap and Rewindpix, which are built for simplicity but do not offer the same weather resistance or optical pairing. Industry coverage from Digital Camera World and TechRadar also notes that the device is being sold directly by Nocs and through retailers including REI.

Storage is handled by a bundled 4GB microSD card, with support for cards up to 128GB, and files can be transferred over USB-C. Power comes from an 800mAh sealed lithium-ion battery, which Nocs rates at roughly 500 stills or 30 to 35 minutes of continuous 4K recording per charge. The camera is offered in Galapagos Gray, Moonwalk White and Lassen Black, and it comes with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects as well as two years of electronics coverage.
