Samsung has launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, a high-end rugged smartwatch featuring a larger battery, improved outdoor visibility, and specialised fitness tools, priced at $699.99 and aimed at outdoor enthusiasts.
Samsung has begun selling the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, its latest high-end rugged smartwatch, with the device going on sale on 7 August at $699.99. The 47mm LTE model is being offered in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray through Samsung and major retail partners, positioning it as the company’s premium outdoor-focused wearable.
The new watch is built around a larger 800mAh battery, which Samsung says lifts endurance by 35% and can deliver up to 60 hours of use with the always-on display switched on. It also carries a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED screen rated at up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, a level Samsung says is intended to improve visibility in direct sunlight and other demanding conditions.
Despite the bigger battery, Samsung has made the case 12% thinner than the original Ultra. The watch still uses a titanium body and is rated for 10 ATM water resistance, IP69K protection and MIL-STD-810H durability. Samsung’s own launch material says the Ultra2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite platform and includes 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 6.0, Wear OS 7 and Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch interface.
Samsung is also pitching the Ultra2 as a more specialised tool for runners, divers and other outdoor users. New features include trail running metrics that track elevation and terrain impact, hydration guidance based on estimated sweat loss and diving support certified to EN13319. Samsung says a Mares partnership will add further dive functions later this year, including ascent and descent monitoring and safe-dive alerts.
