Demand for Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 8, Ultra and Flip 8 in Europe is outpacing expectations, driven by strong pre-orders despite minimal promotional offers and mixed reviews on the updates.
Samsung says demand for its latest foldables in Europe is running ahead of last year’s launch, with early pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 exceeding its target for the region. In an official post, the company said the new line-up had been ordered 20% more often in its first 11 days than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 were over the same period a year earlier.
The figures are notable because the new devices arrive without some of the incentives that often help kick-start sales, including free storage upgrades. Samsung is also facing criticism over the cameras on the standard Fold 8, yet the early response suggests buyers remain willing to pay for its latest foldable designs. The company said the pre-order window only closed shortly before launch, so the final tally may still rise.
Independent early reviews suggest Samsung has focused more on refinement than reinvention. Tom’s Guide said the Galaxy Z Flip 8 brings a faster Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a brighter 6.9-inch AMOLED display and small vlogging improvements, but leaves the overall design and battery life largely unchanged. The same review said the cover-screen FlexWindow still feels underused and argued the price increase is difficult to justify for owners of recent models.
Samsung’s pricing and launch promotions may also have helped drive demand. Android Central reported that buyers could cut as much as $1,200 off the Fold 8 with an eligible trade-in, while also receiving store credit without one. Tom’s Guide also reported that the new foldables are arriving at some of Samsung’s highest price points yet, with the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra positioned as premium devices and the Flip 8 aimed at style-conscious buyers looking for a thinner clamshell design.
