Sony India has introduced the RX10 V, a fixed-lens bridge camera featuring advanced AI-powered autofocus, a wide zoom range, and expanded video capabilities, targeting enthusiasts, wildlife, and sports photographers seeking flexibility in a single body.
Sony India has launched the RX10 V, the latest version of its fixed-lens bridge camera aimed at photographers who want a single body to handle a wide range of subjects. The model centres on a 24-600mm equivalent ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens with an f/2.4-4.0 aperture, combining wide-angle reach, long telephoto range and integrated stabilisation in one camera. Sony says the design is intended for enthusiasts, wildlife users and sports photographers who need flexibility without changing lenses.
The RX10 V uses a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with about 20.1 effective megapixels and the BIONZ XR image processor. That combination is designed to improve detail, reduce noise and preserve colour in difficult light, while also enabling blackout-free burst shooting at up to 30 frames per second with full autofocus and auto-exposure tracking. Reviews from Digital Camera World and DPReview describe the camera as a continuation of Sony’s super-zoom approach, with a fixed-lens format that prioritises reach, speed and convenience over pocketability.
Autofocus is one of the key changes. Sony has added AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF, which can identify humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and aircraft, and can also be set to auto-detect subject type. The company says pose estimation helps keep tracking accurate even when a subject turns away or wears obscuring gear such as helmets or sunglasses. DPReview noted that the camera’s burst and tracking performance make it particularly relevant for wildlife and field sports, while Digital Camera World pointed to the same features as central to its appeal.
Video features have also been expanded. The RX10 V supports 4K recording at up to 120p, along with active stabilisation, S-Cinetone colour, S-Log3 capture and support for user LUTs. Sony also includes an auto-framing function that keeps a subject centred during recording, and a digital audio interface through the Multi Interface Shoe for compatible microphones. The camera ships with a larger Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder, a 3.0-inch LCD and an NP-FZ100 battery that Sony says raises still-image endurance to around 630 shots, roughly 50% more than the previous model.
Sony India said the RX10 V will go on sale in the country from 2 September 2026 through authorised retail outlets, Sony Camera Lounges, Alpha Flagship stores, the company’s online store and major e-commerce platforms including Amazon and Flipkart. In market reporting from Digital Camera World, the RX10 V’s fixed 24-600mm lens and substantial body were presented as part of a broader trend: compact-camera buyers in some markets continue to favour zoom-heavy models, even when they are far from pocket-sized.
