Suunto introduces the lightweight Run 2 smartwatch in Malaysia, featuring enhanced GPS accuracy, improved display brightness, and new marathon-focused training tools, alongside the Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 for endurance athletes.
Suunto has brought its Run 2 smartwatch to Malaysia, keeping the series focused on runners who want a light device that stays out of the way on the wrist. The new model weighs 35g, making it slightly lighter than its predecessor, even though the case is a touch thicker at 11.7mm. According to Suunto’s press material, the watch is built around a stainless steel bezel and Gorilla Glass, and carries 5 ATM water resistance for everyday training and wet conditions.
The display remains a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with a 466 x 466 resolution, but Suunto says peak brightness has been lifted to 2,000 nits. That should improve legibility in strong daylight, especially for outdoor training. Battery claims are unchanged in broad terms: the company says the Run 2 can last for up to 10 days with normal use and training, or up to 24 hours with dual-band GNSS active, although actual life will depend on settings and workout intensity. The watch also adds a redesigned 12-channel wrist heart rate sensor, which Suunto says is intended to improve accuracy across easy runs, intervals and races.
Positioning is a central part of the update. The Run 2 supports dual-band GNSS across GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS, with both L1 and L5 signals used to improve pace and distance accuracy. Suunto has also added training tools aimed at marathon preparation, including a Training Plan that breaks goals such as a sub-four-hour marathon into specific workouts, a Training Zone view that combines load, HRV, sleep and recovery data, and race-focused features such as Marathon Mode and Ghost Runner. Free worldwide offline maps and onboard music storage further extend the watch beyond basic running metrics.
Alongside the watch, Suunto is also launching the Smart Heart Rate Belt 2, which the company pitches at endurance athletes who want more detailed intensity data. The belt uses ECG-based sensing to capture heart rate and beat-to-beat R-R interval data, and Suunto says the revised strap design helps reduce electrical noise during long sessions. It also supports up to three Bluetooth connections at once and is claimed to deliver around 460 hours of battery life.
In Malaysia, the Run 2 goes on sale from 1 October through Suunto’s official and authorised retail channels. The 4GB version is priced at RM1,549, while the 64GB model costs RM1,699. Colour options are All Black, Feather Gold and Aloe Green. The Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 will be sold on the same date for RM599 through Suunto’s website and official stores on Shopee, TikTok and Lazada.
