Tecno POVA 8 Pro transforms gaming with innovative Mini-LED rear display and high-refresh AMOLED screen

Tecno unveils the POVA 8 Pro, blending distinctive design with gaming-focused features and impressive battery longevity, including a novel Alive Matrix Display integrated into the device’s rear panel.

TECNO has added a more distinctive design to its POVA line with the POVA 8 Pro, a handset aimed squarely at mobile gaming and long battery life. The most visible change is on the rear, where an Alive Matrix Display is built into the large triangular camera housing. TECNO says the mini-LED panel can show the time, alerts and more than 49 preset scenarios, giving the phone a far more elaborate back-panel identity than most rivals.

The company is also pushing gaming credentials hard. TECNO says the phone includes a dedicated P1 graphics chip for frame interpolation, with support for 144fps gaming in select titles and 90fps in others. Up front, there is a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 2,800Hz instant touch sampling rate and a claimed 4,500-nit peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The display specification is broadly echoed on TECNO’s own product pages, which also list Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5G support.

Inside, the POVA 8 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. For photography, TECNO has fitted a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 13-megapixel selfie camera. The hardware package places the device in the upper mid-range, with the emphasis clearly on performance and display rather than camera versatility.

Battery life is another major selling point. TECNO lists a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired charging, a combination that should appeal to buyers who want extended use between charges. The phone will be sold in Tundra Green, Graphite Black and Arc White, alongside a Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition, although TECNO has not yet confirmed pricing or wider market availability.
