Vivo has announced the S2 in India, marking a comeback for its S-series with a focus on battery endurance and advanced imaging, amidst fierce competition in the upper mid-range segment.
Vivo has formally introduced the S2 in India, reviving its S-series in the country after a long absence and positioning the handset in the crowded upper mid-range segment. The launch follows weeks of leaks and certification listings that pointed to an imminent release, with the model number V2576 appearing on the Bureau of Indian Standards website before the announcement.
The phone centres on a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1260 x 2800 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and 4320Hz PWM dimming, aimed at reducing visible screen flicker. Vivo pairs that panel with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7360 Turbo chip, a 4nm octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz, alongside 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Earlier leaks broadly matched the chipset and memory configuration, although some pre-launch reports described a smaller 6.59-inch screen and different battery charging specifications.
Power comes from a 7,050mAh battery with 44W wired charging, while cooling is handled by a 3,800 sq mm vapour chamber. That combination is notable for a mid-range phone and suggests Vivo is targeting users who prioritise endurance over slimness. On imaging, the S2 uses a 50MP Sony IMX582 main camera with a 2MP depth sensor, plus a 32MP front camera, and includes the Aura Light ring flash for low-light portraits. Connectivity support covers 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and major satellite navigation systems.
The software package is OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, with system-level productivity and connectivity tools included. Vivo has set Indian pricing at INR 39,999 for the 8GB/128GB model and INR 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB version, with sales due to begin on August 11. Colour options were earlier tipped as Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze and Silk White, although pricing leaks varied slightly before the official reveal, underlining how much of the pre-launch picture remained unsettled.
