Xiaomi introduces the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max in India, emphasising long-lasting batteries, rugged build, and innovative AI features amid a competitive mid-range market.
Xiaomi has brought the Redmi Note 17 Pro series to India, led by the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and the first Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in the Note family. According to the company’s Indian launch material and coverage from AndroidPure and Gadgets 360, the series was formally introduced on 15 September 2026 after an early teaser campaign that highlighted battery capacity and durability. Xiaomi is pitching the phones as long-lasting devices for heavy use rather than as pure camera flagships.
The two models share a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support and claimed peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits. Xiaomi says both handsets use its Titan Structure with reinforced framing, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and protection ratings that extend to IP69K. The company also claims TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality certification, SGS drop resistance on granite surfaces and support for Wet Touch Technology 2.0 and an Underwater Mode.
Internally, the Redmi Note 17 Pro uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of storage, while the Pro Max steps up to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi has paired both phones with Android 16 and HyperOS 3, and it says the Pro series will receive six years of security updates. The company is also bundling Google’s Gemini features, Circle to Search and AI editing tools including AI Glare Removal and AI Erase Pro.
Battery capacity is the main differentiator. Xiaomi says the Redmi Note 17 Pro has a 9,000mAh battery with 67W charging and 22.5W reverse charging, while the Pro Max carries a 10,000mAh cell with 100W charging and the same reverse-charge support. Camera hardware also differs slightly: both phones use a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide unit, but the Pro Max adds a wider aperture, 4K video on the rear camera and a 32-megapixel front camera. Pricing starts at Rs. 36,999 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Rs. 49,999 for the Pro Max, with sales due from 17 September and 23 September respectively through Xiaomi’s own channels, Amazon.in and retail stores. Xiaomi is also offering bank discounts, cashback and a bundled care plan for a limited period.
